Yvonne Kirstein
Registered Dietitian (South Africa)
I am the founding dietitian of Yvonne Kirstein Dietitians and have more than 22 years of experience in various fields of nutrition and dietetics. I am originally from a farm in the Northwest area where I grew up with 2 brothers and a sister. After matriculating in 1995 at Potchefstroom Gimnasium where I was a boarder, I completed my BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics degree at the University of the Northwest.
After completing my degree in 1999, I relocated to London where I worked in various specialities of nutrition and dietetics mostly hospital and clinic based, where I gained extensive knowledge in the field of dietetics. I returned to South Africa in 2006 and started my private practice. I am married and a mom and stepmom to 5 kids.
Although our practice is evidence-based, we focus on the individual. Every patient is different, and every disease is different. I believe you can either hurt or heal your body with food. I am passionate about being a dietitian and believe the health we gain is worth more than the weight we lose.
Megan Huxham
Registered Dietitian (South Africa)
I am an HPCSA Registered Dietitian who qualified with a BSc. in Dietetics from the North-West University, Potchefstroom campus in 2021 after which I completed my Community Service year at The Psychiatric Complex Hospital of the Free State in Bloemfontein. In January 2023, I relocated to Pretoria and started working at Yvonne Kirstein Dietitians. I just recently got married and I am a mother of 3 adorable four-legged children. Some of my hobbies are gardening, sewing, crocheting, and hiking as well as socializing with my friends and family. I always try to be the best person that I can be and nothing can’t be fixed with a smile. I am a motivated young lady who believes in moral values and that a balanced life is important for family, personal and career success.
I am hard-working and very passionate about the Dietetic profession. I am still young and very much looking forward to making a difference in this profession. I am driven by challenges and not afraid to work hard. The more I learn and experience progress in patients the more I realize what an impact dietitians and food have on the human body. My passion is general weight loss as well as weight loss before and after bariatric surgery. I am also extremely enthusiastic about improving and preventing lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol. Another passion of mine is cancer and renal patients. I truly believe in all evidence that proves that a personalized, balanced diet together with the support of a health care professional has a major impact on the above conditions.
